Easy Granola Recipe for Parosmia Sufferers

Basic Homemade Granola

Yield: 6 servings

Whether you have parosmia or not, everyone will enjoy this granola so be prepared to make it over and over.

You can customize this basic granola with any ingredients that taste good to you while you have parosmia. I use whatever I have in the pantry. If I don't have nuts, I'll use 3 cups of the oats. Add or omit whatever you like or don't like.

This is something that I can actually cook and enjoy the smell of it while it's baking. It has the great crunchy texture that we crave with a bit of salty and sweetness. Dried fruit, like cranberries, give it some chewy texture and tart flavor.

Eat it plain or as a topping for yogurt, ice cream or with fresh fruit.

Ingredients:

  • 2 cups old-fashioned oats

  • 1 cup nuts (almonds & pecans), chopped

  • 3/4 cup coconut flakes, sweetened

  • 1/2 tsp sea salt

  • 1/3 cup unsalted butter

  • 1/3 cup honey

  • 1 tsp vanilla

Optional ingredients:

  • Dried fruit (cranberries, blueberries, cherries)

  • White chocolate chips

Instructions:

  1. Preheat oven to 250 degrees. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set aside.

  2. Melt the butter in a medium bowl.

  3. Add the honey and vanilla extract, mix well. Set aside.

  4. In a large bowl, stir together oats, nuts, coconut, and salt.

  5. Add the butter mixture over the oats and mix until fully coated.

  6. Spread the granola on the prepared baking sheet and bake for 1 hour, stirring every 15 minutes.

  7. During the last 15 minutes, keep a close eye on it so it doesn't burn.

  8. Add optional dried fruit and white chocolate chips after it is completely cooled and then store in an airtight container.

  9. Customize this easy granola recipe by adding or omitting any ingredients to your liking.
